What is Rotterdam Art Week?
Rotterdam Art Week is a city-wide celebration of contemporary art, taking place from 25 to 29 March across more than 60 locations in Rotterdam. The programme brings together exhibitions, artist-run spaces, galleries, institutions and temporary presentations, offering visitors insight into the city’s contemporary art scene.
Your role:
As a volunteer, you welcome visitors at exhibition venues or at Rotterdam Central Station, assist with ticketing and wristbands, and answer practical questions about the programme. You are often one of the first points of contact and help shape a welcoming and accessible atmosphere.
Volunteering offers a behind-the-scenes look at a large-scale cultural event and an opportunity to gain experience within the contemporary art field. Shifts last approximately 2–3 hours, with the option to combine multiple shifts.
You will receive:
a €5 per hour compensation
food and drinks during your shift
Two key volunteer locations are The New Current and Interface, both part of Rotterdam Art Week’s curated programme and functioning as central hubs for guided tours and ticket-to-wristband exchange.
Locations:
The New Current takes place at Piekstraat 2 and presents a new generation of artists working across a wide range of disciplines.
Interface, hosted at Slash Gallery at Boomgaardstraat 69, focuses on dialogue between art, design and technology.
