Let’s kick off the first-ever edition of Engage Rotterdam together! Come take part, meet people, and help shape a safer, joyful space for conversation, workshops, and celebration. More information below ⬇️

What is Engage?

Engage Rotterdam is a citywide movement for collective action. They bring makers, residents, entrepreneurs, and social organisations together to co-create through storytelling, music, visual art, cooking, and other forms of expression. They use creativity to surface neighbourhood strengths and needs and turn shared ideas into community‑led initiatives.

Your role:

At this event, volunteers will help us:

  • Welcome and guide visitors between spaces

  • Support artists/facilitators during concerts, workshops and talks

  • Assist with registration, crowd flow and information

  • Help with simple tech/AV checks

  • Gather short stories/feedback from visitors.

What volunteers receive: 

  • Meals/snacks and drinks during shifts

  • A free festival/day pass when not on duty

  • A letter of participation (upon request)

  • €25 Donner book gift card

  • On‑site briefing and team leads to support you

✧ Anti-Fascist Church

When? October 11th, 11:00-23:00

Where? Paradise Church, Nieuwe Binnenweg 25, 3014 GB Rotterdam

What? In their first artistic collaboration, artists Jeanne van Heeswijk and Jonas Staal assemble over forty cultural workers, activists, musicians, political organizations, and social movements to perform a twelve-hour musical anti-fascist service

✧ BLQK TENT

When? October 10th, 11th, 12th

Where? HipHopHuis, Boomgaardsstraat 46, 3012 XD Rotterdam

What? What if queer people of color were the norm? BLQCK TENT invites you to discover what it feels like to break away from the structures that surround us every day: capitalism, hierarchy, sexism and racism. In this temporary space you are challenged to explore alternative ways of being. Enter a world where different rules apply.

Specific Needs: Mentally and physically strong volunteers for Anti Fascist Church! 

Priority: Queer and trans volunteers! We’d love to welcome queer and trans folks to BLQCK Tent. Come take part, meet people, and help shape a safer, joyful space for conversation, workshops, and celebration.

✧ Workshop: Trigger Your Story

When? October 10th, 11th, 12th

What? Everyone carries an untold story, waiting for the right moment to emerge. What's yours? Discover it in this creative workshop by artist and designer Yi-Fei Chen

✧ Technologies of Solidarity

When? October 10th, 11th, 12th

Where? At the V2_, Lab for the Unstable Media, Eendrachtsstraat 10, Rotterdam

What? Technologies of Solidarity invites you to learn about alternatives to digital technologies. During engage 2025, V2_ will host talks, workshops, and artistic projects exploring open-source tools, ethical AI, and offline ways to stay connected. Try out practical tools and imagine new, more collaborative, and creative ways of working with technology.
